THE QUEUE

On the last Sunday of every month entry to the Vatican Museums is free for the 4 hour period that they are open. On such days the queue (always seemingly a minimum of 1 hour from its end to the entrance) is about three times as long.

The Queue itself is an impressive object, lined up along the extraordinary wall designed by Michelangelo. More poignant is the knowledge that many of the visitors will have a limited amount of time to view the collection, acquired over 500 years that includes some of the most important artefacts and artworks from Western Art History.

THE QUEUE is an ongoing project. Over a 12 year period on the last Sunday of each month, Dunhill and O’Brien will ‘collect’ video footage of a ‘section’ of the queue approximately 100 yards before the main entrance.
